Evaluation - Final Product - Music Video - Question Two

From thorough research into Mise en Scene, as presented on my blog. My group were able to select suitable clothing which would be relevant to our Folk Genre Music Video. We concluded as on post, that the performer would wear brown trousers, followed by an blue hoodie, and the performer had to have an natural, swish, hair style. This was in order to make our music video effective as possible to are chosen Folk Genre. We also established the location, via the place where we would shoot the narrative and performance shots as a key part to our Folk Genre. We began researching local places which would offer us that rustic and rural terrain to to emphasise our folk Genre in our final final music video. We found after considering and trialing locations such as Troopers Hill, that Vassal Park would be the most appropriate to shoot are narrative and performance sequences. My group were able to film footage of the performer in Waterfall locations and high cliff shots to really reinforce the country, and urban theme to the song for narrative shots. We would also film the performance shots at the same location, as whilst the performer was singing , we had background of Mise en Scene such as greenery from trees and rustic textures from old rocks. These features incorporated to together strongly to create maximum relation to our Folk Genre Target Audience

Ben Howard - 'Keep Your Head Up' - Song Lyrics

 spent my time watching
the spaces that had grown between us
And I cut my mind on second best
the scars that come with the greeness
I gave my eyes to the boredom
still the seabed wouldn’t let me in
And I tried my best to embrace the darkness
in which I swim

Now walking back down this mountain
with the strength of a turning tide
The wind so soft at my skin
the sun so hot upon my side
Looking out at this happiness
I searched for between the sheets
Feeling blind, to realise
All I was searching for was me
Oh all i was searching for was me

Keep your head up, keep your heart strong
Keep your mind set, keep your hair long
Keep your head up, keep your heart strong
Keep your mind set in your ways
Keep your heart strong

I saw a friend of mine the other day
And he told me that my eyes were gleaming
I said I’d been away
and he knew the depths I was meaning
It felt so good to see his face
the comfort invested in my soul
To feel the warmth of his smile
when he said ‘I’m happy to have you home’
Oh im happy to have you home

Keep your head up...

Because I’ll always remember you the same
Eyes like wildflowers with your demons of
change
May you find happiness there
May all your hopes turn out right

Keep your head up...

Because I’ll always remember you the same
Eyes like wildflowers with your demons of
change

'The Who' - My Generation Music Video For Textual Analysis - Folk

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7xZOrWK6d4g

The 'Who' - My Generation Textual Analysis

I analysed this music video because our group is focusing around the genre 'Folk Music.' The band 'The Who' produced recordings and music videos based around this genre. The groups 'My Generation' was a hit. The music video incorporated a flash back of the singers at recording at a younger age. The music video also emphasises the childhood of each group member, then suddenly cutting back to the previous day of their lives. The mise en scene included in the music video features props such as, youthful clothing - jackets, and silly props such as flowers being thrown at other group members. The location of the narrative shots are set in a forrest. The combination of the mise en scene, and the location of this music video, relates well with our 'folk' theme. This is because our music video will incorporate a similar scenario of slightly immature characters, and filming in a lively place, such as a forest.
